Next up Norwalk!
“We are doing better than we were this time last year,” said JP Gutierrez. Is JP correct? Yes! But did they get into the show? No! The first race of the season for Gutierrez Brothers Racing (GBR) showed itself to be a little difficult for the team. GBR made solid passes both during testing and in qualifying. Unfortunately their 5.34 pass could only get them 9th out of 12 putting them just out of the show. “We put some new parts on the car this year and this was the first time out with them” said JP. “Did we get into the race? Well no but did we break any parts or start a fire like we did this race last year? No! So I will take this as a small win for our team and we will come out swinging for the next race!”
The next race of the season is the Cavalcade of Stars at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk Ohio. Summit Motorsports Park is known for their amazing show with fireworks, jets cars, cheap ice cream, and autograph signing! “This race is always fun and exciting for the fans but also for the drivers and teams” said Phil. “Summit Motorsports Park has always been the ‘home’ track for us and we love the Bader family and the whole crew at the race track. We are constantly hoping to win again here like we did in 2017!” The team will be leaving Thursday to set up and get ready for the race weekend. If you are coming to the race make sure you stop by and say hi! Hero cars and T-Shirts are available!
The schedule as of now has qualifying round one at 4:30 pm on Friday. Saturday will have qualifying round two at 4:00 pm and qualifying round three at 8:00 pm.
