Gutierrez Brothers Racing ready for their first race in 2022
Gutierrez Brothers Racing (GBR) is heading to the newly renamed Indianapolis Raceway Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil drag racing series North Central regional race. This marks the first stop of GBR’s 2022 season which will take them to 6 races in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois.
Last year, GBR saw their supercharged Top Alcohol Dragster make its fastest pass at 5.25 at 272 MPH. Just like any off season the team was hard at work with maintenance to the semi truck, optimizing their trailer and pit set up, and purchasing new parts for the car. “We are hoping to continue the momentum we had last year,” said JP. “We can’t wait to get back on the track and see if our off season changes will make the car even faster. We made a couple modifications to the actual dragster this off season as well as buying new parts.”
“I’ve been ready!” says Phil. “This has been our longest off season of our career and I am excited to see what the car can do this year. We do not have a primary sponsor for the year which is a weird feeling but it is pushing us to do even better this year. We are determined to make 2022 our best year yet with our performance.”
GBR will hit the track this Friday at 5:00PM for Q1 with two more qualifying sessions on Saturday at 12:00PM and 3:00PM. The fastest 8 cars will square off for elimination round 1 on Saturday at 6:00PM. Semi-finals and finals begin on Sunday at 11:00AM.
